Martin's Home Page

Welcome to my first attempt at a web site.

I am intending to introduce a range of topics of special interest to me and am starting with cycling.  Cycling in the UK is entering a period of expansion after many years of decline.  It's a great way to get about, have fun and keep (or get!) fit.  Thanks to the energy and commitment of the people leading organisations like the CTC, Sustrans and local cycling campaigns, the voice of cyclists is being heard in high places.  The results are appearing on the ground and the National Cycle Network is rapidly taking shape.

After retiring at 56 on 1 April 2000 my first project was to cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats.  I failed at my first attempt, due to a crash in Cornwall, but the re-run in August went really well.
